Metroidvania Map Builder
A simple tool for building maps in the style of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and similar games, and can also be useful for traditional grid-based dungeon crawlers.
Mostly meant for sketching out the geography of a game, level or dungeon.
Tested on Mozilla Firefox but should likely work on any modern browser.
Instructions:
I recommend using the tool on Full Screen Mode - itch.io places the toggle on the bottom right of the tool frame.
On the left menu you can add more rooms - different rooms create walls between them when they touch. Each room can have its own color too, but you may repeat colors as much as needed.
On the right menu you can select the "Door Painting Tool" to create doors between rooms, just click on the wall you want to convert into a door.
When you click save, a pop-up will appear with a very long text. Copy the whole text (ctrl+A, ctrl+C on Windows) and save it somewhere on your PC. You'll need to paste it again when you want to Load your work.
Changing the grid size can be a way of "zooming out" or "zooming in" in your map.
If you prefer to download the tool and use it offline, just download the source code and open "index.html" on your browser.

Great tool, I wish the upper left and upper right menues to be detachable so I can move them around and actually paint over the whole map. Or maybe the viewport be crammed inbetween them. Great tool!
Nice tool. Thx for sharing.
It is simple but very functional, it can help a lot in projects. I would recommend adding an option to generate the jpg maps and export them.
Cool idea, I'll try to do something on that front.
Meanwhile, you can "print" your map to a PDF using the browser print command as a way of exporting it, but yeah, not very practical.
Handy workaround!
